Seasonal Opening Times

Our Head Office will close at 1pm on 23 December 2016 and reopen at 9am on 3 January 2017.  The Furniture Warehouse will close at 12md on 23 December and reopen at 9.30am on 3 January 2017.  34 Claro Road is open 24hrs a day, 365 days a year!

We would like to wish you all the very best for the festive season and a wonderful New Year!

The search is on for our new apprentice!

We have started the search for our new Business Administration Apprentice to work at our Head Office on Hornbeam Park, Harrogate.  The new person will follow in the footsteps of our last apprentice James Parker who, on completion of his apprenticeship, was successful in gaining a full time post at our residential care facility and is now studying for a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care!

We have a new Chair!

We are delighted to announce that we have a new Chair of our Board of Trustees.  After Martyn Weller announced his intention to stand down after many years of service we launched a search to find the right person to lead us through some transformational changes we have planned.

We are very pleased that on 28 July Neil Revely was appointed by the Board as Chair, you can read all about him on the ‘About Us’ tab on the Home Page.

Martyn is staying on as a trustee until the AGM in December to support Neil in his first months as Chair.

We Scoop an Award!

We are thrilled to be a Weston Charity Award winner last week.  The Weston Charity Awards celebrate and support excellent charities working in the fields of youth, welfare and community through a year of strategic planning support and unrestricted funding.  The awards are an initiative of the Garfield Weston Foundation and Pilotlight.  As well as a very welcome donation to our core funding we receive a year of support from Pilotlight who help ambitious charities and social enterprises thrive by harnessing the skills of business leaders.  The Pilotlight Programme is about coaching charity and social enterprise leaders to develop their business skills, strengthen their organisation and increase its impact.

We are very excited about the coming year and cant wait to start work with Pilotlight!

Our well respected Chair, Martyn Weller, is standing down after seven years of valued service. We are now looking for an exceptional individual to succeed him in leading the Board of Trustees to drive our charity forward as we face new and exciting challenges. Working closely with the Chief Executive, the new Chair will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic agenda.

We are a long established charity, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, which currently provides a number of services for disabled people including residential care with training for independent living, training in the skills required for employment linked to a thriving social enterprise and holiday accommodation. Training Room Hire

We are sorry to say that we are unable to offer our training room for hire any longer.  The good news is that it is now being used by The Hub (previously based in Starbeck) who work with young adults on personalised learning pathways.  We are very much enjoying having them with us, but will miss seeing those of you who have used our room over the past eleven years.

MarketPlace Event – The Morning After!

We are so pleased with how the MarketPlace Event went yesterday.  All of the exhibitors worked really hard to present interesting stands that showed their products and services well.  The workshops were interesting (special mention for Josh who’s display of furniture painting was outstanding!), the sun shone and those who attended the event asked if we would do another next year!
