I started with the charity in 2001 and became Chief Executive in 2007. Originally trained as a nurse, I have spent most of my working life within management positions in health and social care. DAY is an amazing charity and I feel so proud of the achievements made by the organisation, our customers and our staff.

I joined Disability Action Yorkshire in 2017 and work with all departments in developing the overall organisational strategy, with a particular focus on assistive technology. I find technology incredibly interesting, and having the ability to assist disabled people in creating solutions for further independence gives me a great sense of satisfaction.

I am pleased to be able to bring my experience, skills and abilities to Disability Action Yorkshire, and lead the training department to provide bespoke solutions for disabled people, regardless of aspiration.

I have spent most of my working life in health and social care, joining Disability Action Yorkshire in 2013. Since then I have worked my way up to managing the care and support services of the charity. No two days are the same and I get immense satisfaction seeing our customers develop their independent living skills.

Having worked in accountancy within large and medium sized business as well as my own practice I have a broad range of accountancy and interpersonal skills. I enjoy working with people and am always happy to roll my sleeves up to get tasks completed! Disability Action Yorkshire is a great charity that I am pleased to be a part of.

I was delighted to be appointed as chair of Disability Action Yorkshire in 2016. I'm pleased to be able to use my many years of experience at director level in local authority adult services to lead the organisation through an exciting period of change.

Andrew Newton

Andrew is the second of our Vice Chairs and joined the Board in 2014. He uses his lived experience of disability to ensure that all of the services we provide bring about the best possible outcomes for our customers.

Alison Craggs

Alison has been a trustee, and the treasurer since December 2016. She brings a wealth of experience in financial accounting in both the charity and commercial sectors.

Sue Grace

Sue has been a trustee since 2012. Her experience in education at a high level is very much appreciated by our training function who view Sue as a valuable resource.

Andrew Glen

Andrew joined the board in 2014, his background and extensive experience is in marketing which is an invaluable resource to the charity.

Noel Moriarty

Noel has a personal and professional interest in the use of assistive technology having family experience of disability. His experience in internet marketing has assisted us since he joined the Board.

Mike Patterson

As an employment law solicitor Mike brings a very welcome level of expertise to the Board. He has also been with us since 2013.

Sue Papworth

Sue joined the Board in July 2018. She has a wealth of experience in the financial sector and a particular interest in investment management
