Welcoming Robert Kernaghan as Our New Chair

09/02/2026

We are delighted to announce that Robert Kernaghan has been elected as the new Chair of our Board of Trustees, succeeding Neil Revely.

Robert joined our board in early 2024 and brings a wealth of lived experience and professional expertise to the role. A wheelchair user since contracting polio in childhood, he is a tireless advocate for removing the physical and societal barriers that disabled people face every day.

His distinguished career includes senior leadership roles at the British Library, the Yorkshire Post, and the Ministry of Defence, as well as serving as the Head of Customer Relations at First Direct Bank.

Speaking on his new role, Robert said:

“I am honoured to have been chosen by the trustees to Chair a charity that does so much to support and champion disabled people in Yorkshire. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team to continue the great work Neil Revely delivered.”

Our Chief Executive, Jackie Snape, added:

“We are so pleased that Robert has accepted the role. His experience in resolving complex problems and his personal commitment to accessibility and equality have been invaluable. He is a fantastic example of the ambitions we support our customers to achieve.”
