Introducing our Interns

We are delighted that this year we have started to provide supported internships for four young people

Supported internships are a structured study programme based primarily with an employer. They enable young people aged 16 – 24, with an Education, Health and Care plan, to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work through learning in the workplace. Supported internships are unpaid, and last for a minimum of six months. Wherever possible, they support the young person to move into paid employment at the end of the programme. Our interns are working at Claro Road, in the furniture warehouse and on reception at Hornbeam Park.

We have Jackson who does sales and marketing which involves creating engaging content for social media. He is responsible for keeping social media channels updates and looking for creative ways to engage with our audiences as well as selling to the public in our furniture warehouse.

Next is Samantha who is working in the role of receptionist where she will welcome visitors, answer the telephones as well as answering or referring enquiries people may have.

Then we have Ellen who is working as a Care Worker which involves a broad spectrum of duties and tasks from client care responsibilities such as washing, dressing and helping with everyday tasks like paying bills, to providing emotional support or company.

And last but not least is Henry. He has a real mixture of roles which are that of a public relations officer where he uses a wide range of media to build and sustain a good image for the organisation, a blogger and social media assistant who posts articles and posts as well as sharing the most up to date news, opinions and case studies. Besides all of that, Henry also works as a warehouse operative and assists in selling merchandise to the general public.

All of our interns are excelling, and we are excited to see what progress will be made over the coming year.
