He Did It!!!!!!

by Jackie Snape

This weekend the Chair of our Trustee Board, Martyn Weller, completed his mega 125 mile challenge from our head office in Harrogate to our holiday lodge in Louth – on a mobility scooter!

He started at 07.30am on 30 June taking a route via Wetherby, York then down to the

Bridge where he arrived at 6pm in the evening.  The weather was quite kind with only one downpour which did drench him!

After an overnight stop in Hull he set off again at 09.00hrs, crossing the Humber Bridge.  He finally arrived at the Kenwick Park Hotel in Louth at 3pm on 1 July.

Martyn was supported throughout the weekend by our Chief Executive, Jackie Snape and her husband Thomas who rode the route on a Harley Davidson (slightly faster than Martyn!)

The main support for the challenge came from The Mobility Partnership from Hull who were amazing.  Not only did they supply the scooter and back up batteries for the event they were also with him every step of the way, most of the time driving behind Martyn at less than 10 miles an hour!  We couldn’t have done it without them so many many thanks to Ian and his team.

The challenge raised around £700 towards the holiday lodge, which you can find out more about o this website or by going to
