We are currently fundraising for the following projects:

 

‘Community Garden’ Project

The “Green-fingers Community Garden Project” aims to make the garden at Claro Road a productive growing and leisure space for our service users. Teaching them new skills in horticulture and develop a healthy activity.

 

The project will provide vegetables to supplement weekly shopping and a fun activity to do throughout the year. The garden plan will include:

  • three raised beds for growing vegetables,
  • planting fruit trees and bushes
  • building a green house and potting shed
  • harvesting and using rain water (water butts)
  • creating a community garden mosaic or sculpture
  • learning how to compost garden and household waste
  • learning how to keep bees and chickens
  • engaging new volunteers to support the community garden development

‘Swim Active’ Project

The “Swim Active Project” aims to provide improved access to local swimming for physically disabled people. Offering a mobile hoist and change table in the accessible change facilities of the local swimming facility at The Hydro,Harrogate.  

This project will enable disabled people to try a new activity, helping their mobility and general well-being. It will be supported by local volunteers to ensure costs are kept to a minimum whilst increasing physical activity opportunities.

The project will work in partnership with the local Harrogate Borough Council leisure department and North Yorkshire Sport to engage local volunteers to support disabled users and develop new coaching skills.

‘Holiday Lodge’ Project

The ‘Holiday Lodge’ project aims to provide a fully equiped Holiday Lodge. Accomodation will be fitted with specialist equipment in the kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms for physically disabled people.

We would like to install height-adjustable kitchen worktops, which can be lowered to any height, as well as movable units and accessible appliances.

Bedroom furniture including profiling beds and ceiling hoists in both twin and single rooms.

Bathroom accomodation comprising of a wheel in wet room with ceiling hoist, electric shower chair and accessible bath.

Once the equipment has been installed, bookings can be taken for a group or family to enjoy an weekend break of week in home-like comfort.
